“We have had a problem with the ERS and we have not been able to resolve it in time for qualifying. It is a disastrous weekend in that sense. I could not do laps in Free Practice 2, I did half a lap in Free Practice 3 and now I am not doing qualifying,” he explained about his problems in qualifying.
Furthermore, he regretted that these technical setbacks have appeared at the start of the World Championship, after the car responded well in pre-season: “All the reliability problems that we did not have in Bahrain have suddenly appeared. It is very complicated. The plan for tomorrow is to use the test day a little, because even China will be my first ‘qualy’ with this car. I am already one weekend behind.”
