Matías Almeyda and Pachuca Negotiations Stall

By Anya Martinez | MEXICO CITY – 2025/05/29 07:43:15

Recent discussions linking Argentine coach Matías almeyda with Pachuca for the Club World Cup have reportedly hit a snag. Initial intentions were expressed by both sides, but negotiations have not progressed as hoped, potentially complicating the club’s coaching search.

According to rubén Rodríguez, a columnist for Half time, Almeyda is currently unlikely to become the new head coach of the Hidalguense team.

Why the Hold-Up in Negotiations?

The primary reason for the impasse appears to be a difference in timelines. Pachuca, following the departure of Guillermo Almada, is keen to appoint a new coach swiftly, with the Club World Cup approaching rapidly. Almeyda, however, has reportedly requested more time to consider the offer.

“Matías Almeyda far away, so far from Pachuca. Today is far from being coach of the Tuzos. Muuuuyy far!”

Pachuca officially announced Guillermo Almada’s departure on Wednesday. He had coached the team for three and a half years, during which he secured titles in both the MX League and Concacaf.
