An eyewitness revealed shocking details about the horrific traffic accident that occurred at dawn today, Wednesday, in the Shatby area on the Alexandria Corniche Road, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of 3 others.
Omar Tariq said: “The car flew in front of us and came down and within seconds it would have been frozen, and the one who died was sitting on the sea. What was his fault in losing his life because of some happy children?”
He continued: “The sight is very bad. At the expense of whom did you hurt yourself and the one with you lost his life? I cannot sleep from the sight while the child is dying. Thank God we let him watch and meet a generous God.”
Citizens circulated video clips and photos showing the moment the accident occurred, amid angry comments. “Mohamed Badr” wrote: “Unfortunately, every day, young people whose families bring them modern cars race each other at night. What is the fault of the one who sat on the sea wall and died?”
While Mustafa Al-Hawa commented, saying: “They installed new radars on the Corniche every 400 or 500 meters, but it is of no use.”
The beginning was when the Bab Sharqi Police Department received a notification from the Rescue Police Department that a report had been received stating that a car overturned accident had occurred in front of the university building in the Shatby area on the Corniche Road, in the direction of Al-Mansheya, and that there were injured people.
The department’s officers, accompanied by civil protection forces and ambulances, moved to the accident site, and the inspection revealed that the driver of a private car lost control of the steering wheel due to excessive speed, climbed onto the sidewalk, and collided with a person while sitting on the Corniche fence.
The inspection revealed that the car flew through the air due to the severity of the collision and the high speed, and it fell from the top of the corniche on the seashore and overturned with its three passengers, which led to its crash and smoke rising from it.
The accident resulted in the death of a citizen and the injury of 3 others. The body was transported to the ambulance morgue in Kom El-Dikka, two injured people were taken to the main Amiri University Hospital, and one injured person was taken to a private hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
The necessary report on the incident has been prepared at Bab Sharqi Police Department, and it is being presented to the Public Prosecution for investigation.
