Listeria can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. They have now been found in trout fillets from Aldi.

Laschinger Seafood GmbH, which sells its products through Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd, has issued a recall. Accordingly, the “Almare trout fillets” items in the “natural” and “pepper” varieties with a use-by date of November 30, 2025 should not be consumed. According to the manufacturer, listeria was detected during an examination.

These are the affected products:

Almare Forellenfilets
Contents: 125 grams
Varieties: natural and pepper
Use by date: November 30, 2025

According to Laschinger Seafood, other consumption data for the item are not affected. The trout fillets can also be returned to Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd without presenting a receipt, it is said.

Listeria is a rod-shaped bacteria that is widespread in the environment. The species Listeria monocytogenes can cause a disease called listeriosis, which is primarily transmitted through contaminated food. These bacteria are particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems because they can multiply even at low refrigerator temperatures.
