NEW YORK – Carlos Alcaraz shocked at the start of the US Open fans and tennis rivals with a new image and a super -short cut.
However, the Spanish talent, which enjoys a modified hairstyle, admitted after the victory over Railly Opelko that the shaved head was not the original intention. The planned shortening of the hair did not turn out.
“My brother failed to do it a little. He just missed it. Then there was no other option than to simply shave,” He commented on the cut five -time Grand Slam champion.
Alcaraz took his bare head with ease. “Somebody likes it, someone doesn’t. I enjoy how people react,” He said the 22-year-old Spaniard and added that his hair would grow in a few days anyway. He joked that it was at least faster. The new look was shocked, for example, by American tennis player Frances Tiafoe, who met him in the bowels of the stadium in Flushing Meadows and looked at Alcaraz’s head in disbelief.
“It was funny. I looked at him and thought, he’s completely aerodynamic,” He told the amused Tiafoe. “And Juan Carlos (coach Ferrero) laughed and said he would be even faster than it was. And I thought, Hmm, it will be a problem,” He described the meeting and did not stop with peak even when evaluating Alcaraz’s appearance.
“As a guy who can be cut every week and is proud to have good hairstyles, I have to say it’s absolutely terrible.”
