Jakarta –
The East Java Regional Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team revealed obstacles in the process of identifying the bodies of Al-Khoziny Ponpes victims who collapsed in Sidoarjo, East Java. One of them is because the average victim does not have a Resident Identity Card (KTP).
Kaurkes Kamtibmas Subdit Dokpol Biddokes East Java Regional Police, Kompol Naf’an, explained that his party had taken antemortem and postmortem data of the bodies, but there had not been found a compatibility due to several things constrained.
“The level of difficulty is that among them the average has not been KTP, so if as a comparison of victims, we are trying to ask whether it is a report card or diploma that has a thumb stamp or fingerprint from 3 fingers,” Naf’an said at a press conference on Saturday (4/10/2025).

Naf’an said the collection of fingerprints from report cards or diplomas also did not produce maximum results, because the ink was too thick.
“Some of the things we received were because the ink was too thick, could not (identified) clearly. Diluted by the Inafis Team also had difficulties,” he said.
In addition, the body has experienced decay. Thus, fingerprints are also difficult to do.
DNA samples are sent to Jakarta
Naf’an said that the DVI team had taken a sample of 9 bodies of victims of Al-Khoziny Ponpes who collapsed. The ninth DNA sample of the body was sent to Jakarta to be examined at the National Police Pusdokkes Lab Center in Cipinang, East Jakarta.
“We have already taken the sampling of 9 bodies at Bhayangkara Hospital in Surabaya and samples of parents’ DNA samples, this morning has been flown to Jakarta,” Naf’an said.
The DVI team has collected data to take antemortem and postmortem data. To this day, the DVI team has taken antemortem data samples from 57 parents.
He then explained the process of identifying the body, namely secondary and primary. Identification of primary bodies is obtained from fingerprint and dental sample examination.
“If the two of them are not found to be compatible, then we have taken a sampling and we have done it,” he said.
According to the SOP, DNA examination takes two to three weeks. And this depends on the level of difficulty.
“It also depends on whether there are other victims who are examined, because other pusdokes throughout Indonesia there is only one DNA lab in Cipinang,” he added.
