This is the story of Stein-Erik Soelberg, who killed his mother before killing herself in the suburbs of New York, told at the end of August in the Wall Street Journal. The months preceding the drama, the 56 -year -old American had sunk into delusional conversations with Chatgpt, the conversational agent of Open AI, publishing dozens of videos of his dialogues with the robot on Instagram and on YouTube. These exchanges are filled with references to the matrix, a simulation of the reality imagined in the film Matrixand at his «illumination» self -proclaimed. Above all, he evokes with Chatgpt his fear of being the target of a group plotting against him. With known history of mental instability-police reports going up until 2018 report alcoholism and several suicide attempts-, Stein-Erik Soelberg thought to be tracked down by those around him, in particular by his mother.
