Meta AI services integrated into smart glasses are already available for Puerto Rico residentsannounced Friday the executive director of the Federal Affairs Administration of Puerto Rico (PRFAA), Gabriella Boffelli, and Dan Sachs, vice president of state policy in the finish line.
The achievement was obtained after the government began a month ago for the goal operating system to be available on the island, mainly for blind people and visual disabilities to have a tool that allows them self -sufficiency.
“Thanks to the direct collaboration with Meta, PRFAA managed to ensure that the artificial intelligence functions of Meta would be enabled throughout Puerto Rico through the target AI application, as well as in the Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses,” he detailed in a press release.
Boffelli indicated that the effort was made to guarantee US citizens of the island equal access to the technology and benefits enjoyed in the United States.
“We thank Meta for acting quickly and collaborating to ensure equitable access to emerging technologies for the people of Puerto Rico,” he said.
For his part, the Vice President of State Policy in Meta, commented that “we appreciate continuous and open communication with PRFAA, which has been fundamental to guarantee access to all the products and services of Meta, including goal AI, throughout Puerto Rico. We also recognize the leadership of the governor’s office for identifying the advantages of artificial intelligence and we hope to continue a productive collaboration”.
Smart glasses with Meta AI technology offer users real -time audio descriptions of texts and objects, facilitating tasks such as reading menus, identifying signs and navigating documents.
To blind or visual disabilities, these glasses transform the visual world into hearing information, helping with text reading, the recognition of people and objects, thus the detection of obstacles to improve independence and mobility.
The sale price of the glasses starts at $ 299 and can be prescribed.
