Agnieszka Maciąg: Grief After Father’s Cancer Loss

On November 27, photographer Robert Wolański provided sad information about the death of his beloved wife Agnieszka Maciąg. “Be free, because you have always loved freedom. I will always see your eyes full of love. Your joy and fullness of life will always live in me,” we read. The model, who was the queen of the catwalks in the 1990s, suffered from cancer and some time ago decided to leave show business. She focused on self-development and wrote several books on healthy and good living. She did not give interviews and did not speak publicly about her illness. When the cancer returned, she only informed a small group of her fans through one of her webinar groups. The model once lost her father due to this disease. In interviews, she talked about the most difficult period of her life, when many misfortunes accumulated at one moment.

Agnieszka Maciąg lost her father to cancer. “I was going through a crisis. I didn’t want to live”

Agnieszka Maciąg wrote on her blog that in 2006 she experienced a deep mental and health crisis. It was then that she couldn’t cope with everyday life and opened up to spirituality. The model in one of the interviews with the “Viva!” magazine she admitted that cancer ran in her family. This is why she lost her father. “My father died of cancer, I was going through a crisis in my marriage, I saw no point in my work and I was chronically ill. I didn’t want to live. This crisis made me fall to my knees and start praying for help. (…) Before 2006, I was afraid of literally everything – when I went to bed, I was afraid for my health, for my life, I was afraid of natural disasters, war, old age, economic crises. I was one big fear,” she confessed. Agnieszka Maciąg admitted that the change in her life came when she learned to control her mind and emotions. “I had previously studied psychology and had the impression that I already knew everything about everything. And yet I was completely unable to cope with myself. I was filled with fear and devastated. But this prayer opened a new life for me! Today I accept what is happening in the world because I am convinced that there is wisdom and meaning in everything. Everything is an important and necessary lesson,” she emphasized in an interview with the magazine.

After Agnieszka Maciąg’s death, Andrzej Krzywy from the De Mono band mentioned the model in one of his interviews. Maciąg was the group’s muse in the 1990s and appeared in almost ten De Mono music videos. How does the singer remember her? “A wonderful, wonderful, modest person. One of the most interesting and beautiful Polish models. And yet, at the same time, she somehow retained this enormous modesty and humility. And we worked together wonderfully, because, as I say, she is a fantastic person.
