After the gigantic Baldur’s Gate 3, the Belgian Larian Studios is leaving D&D a bit behind and returning to its own fantasy world, with the game Divinity it will continue its long-standing franchise, the first part of which was published back in 2002, which was Divine Divinity. Since then, several episodes have been added, and the Original Sin games managed to take the Diablo-based ARPG adventure in a more tactical direction, and it is suspected that the series will also stay on this line in the sequel.
Swen Vincke, who leads the team, gave an interview during which he revealed that Divinity will not surprisingly contain references to Original Sins, the very first part, and even the dragon-themed The Dragon Knight Saga.
“If you really want to know everything, there are games that were released earlier, but they are a bit out of date by now, they are quite old”
Vincke said.
The head of Larian also said that if someone played Baldur’s Gate 3 for the cinematic experience, it’s not worth spending time on its predecessors unless you want to be aware of the lore. According to him, those who really like tactical battles or cooperative multiplayer are recommended to watch the two Original Sins, because for example the second part was the basis on which they made the trip to the Sword Coast, so based on this, it is highly suspicious that Divinity is also based on this, and if it really will be the biggest adventure of the Belgian team so far, then it is good if we are aware of what game mechanics the guys are tweaking.
