It’s half-time and Brisbane lead tonight’s prelim final by five points.
Carlton find themselves in the unenviable position of facing a team with an extraordinary amount of finals experience. Carlton haven’t played in a prelim since 2019. In stark contrast, this is Brisbane’s seventh prelim.

It was a frantic yet low-scoring first term, with Blues Irish star Dayna Finn kicking the only goal of the first quarter. Brisbane were able to smother Carlton’s fatigued defence in the second quarter, with two brilliant goals from Ruby Svarc.
If the Blues want to stop the Lions from waltzing into their fourth consecutive grand final, they’ll need to kick into gear and play exactly like they did in the final minutes of that second term.
Carlton’s young talent need to step up and as suggested by a pre-game video message by pop group the Veronicas, be “untouchable”.
