AEW Dynamite Results: Ospreay Returns, Coffin Match & More

by Archynetys Sports Desk

AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, March 18 will feature the fallout from Revolution.

This week’s show takes place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. Three matches were advertised in advance for the episode.

Darby Allin’s rivalry with The Dogs will continue as he faces Gabe Kidd in a Coffin match. The bout was made after Kidd demanded it during the post-show media scrum following Revolution. Allin, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong defeated the Dogs on the pay-per-view.

Toni Storm and Marina Shafir will also meet in a No Holds Barred match. Storm beat Shafir at Revolution after biting her and wrapping her up in a small package. Following the match, Storm was involved in a pull apart with Shafir’s longtime training partner/friend, Ronda Rousey.

Will Ospreay is scheduled to return to the ring for the first time since Forbidden Door 2025 when he takes on Blake Christian.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcome us alongside Tony Schiavone & Bryan Danielson, as they throw it to a huge highlight package of all that went down at Revolution.  Before the opening contest, we learn that Timeless Toni Storm was ruled out tonight due to an attack backstage earlier today and will be replaced by Mina Shirakawa in the No Holds Barred Match with Marina Shafir.

Will Ospreay vs. Blake Christian

(While some might criticize the amount of offense Christian got in this one, in this case, I’d say it makes sense, as Ospreay has been out since September. This was a good first test for Ospreay to get some of the ring rust off, to which there appeared to be none whatsoever. He broke out a couple of his greatest hits, but it was ultimately Christian who did most of the flips in this. I know Ospreay is going for revenge with Moxley, but he’s so unbelievably over with the fans that he needs to be AEW World Champion this year, All In would be the obvious choice.)

No entrance for Christian, as Ospreay is met with a massive reaction from the crowd for his in-ring return. Danielson talked about how more invasive Ospreay’s neck surgery was than his in 2014 and it took Ospreay much shorter of recovery time. Snap early hurricanrana sent Christian outside, but he swept out the legs from Ospreay on the apron and hit a leaping splash. Back inside, Christian tried another cazadora splash, but Ospreay countered with a roll through high boot. Christian again went outside, this time being met with a slingshot cross-body. Taking too long to high five fans, Christian recovered with a corkscrew dive and wrenching the neck of Ospreay on the top of the barricade, but missed a double stomp, allowing Ospreay to connect on a leaping forearm. Quickly back inside, Pip Pip Cheerio hits for a near fall, but Christian responded with a neckbreaker/DDT combo.

Christian gets in a few cheap shots as the referee tends to Ospreay before zoning in on the neck. Wall walk enzugiri from Ospreay leads to a handspring corkscrew kick for two. Ospreay missed a standing corkscrew splash, allowing Christian to nail a double stomp and running DDT through the corner of the ropes to the floor. Back inside, springboard 450 Splash hits for two, as well as a handspring Cutter got another near fall. Christian missed a Sliced Bread, ducked a Hook Kick, fired off a pump knee and got his standing Sliced Bread for two. Christian takes off the arm wrap, flips off Ospreay, as he signaled for a Hidden Blade, but Ospreay hit one of his own to turn Christian inside out. Ospreay connected with one proper to the back of the head and got the win.

Post-match, Ospreay took the mic and told the fans he bloody missed them. Ospreay called out Jon Moxley, saying the biggest difference between them is he doesn’t need a weapon to snatch someone’s neck, he can do it with his bare f’n hands. The music for the Death Riders hit, as Moxley walks out with Wheeler Yuta for their match through the crowd, but Ospreay sprinted at them and the fight is on. Yuta gets taken out with ease, as Ospreay chucked a trash can at Moxley, taking him to the ring and teasing a Tiger Driver. PAC blindsided Ospreay before he could and applied the Brutalizer. Security and referees rushed the ring and got him to release the hold.

Match Result: Will Ospreay defeated Blake Christian

As the music for the Bang Bang Gang hit for the next match and PAC was being taken away by security, Ospreay sprinted up the ramp and leapt off the stage onto PAC. The two brawled to the back, as this led to the bell sounding to start our next contest.
