The Greek men’s basketball team, in preparation for the European Championship, defeated Italy in Athens on Friday, playing without its leader Janis Adetokunbo and took first place in the test tournament. The Greek team won with 76:74 (16:20, 14:20, 27:12, 19:22), with a 12 -point deficit (30:42) at the start of the second half.
The winners were 14 points for Dorsijs Tyler, 11 points for Costa Papanikolau, and ten points – Vasilis Toliopul and Panajotis Kalaicakis. For Italians, Simone Fontekio scored 18 points and six rebounds, while Salius Njang scored 14 points and six rebounds.

It has already been reported that on Wednesday, the Latvian team lost 86: 104 to Greece, but on Thursday won Italy with 83:68, taking second place in the three -team tournament.
In the European Championship Finals, 24 teams in four groups will play in Riga, Tampere, Katowice and Limassol at the end of August and early September. The Latvian team in Group A in Riga will play with Serbia, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Portugal and Estonia.
The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs in Riga, finding out the medal winners in the first half of September.
