Adam Peaty’s family have told friends they have “lost hope” of a reconciliation with their son after Gordon Ramsay‘s latest comments. The 59-year-old celebrity chef called himself “daddy” in a comment on Adam’s wedding video, in which the Olympian said he would always choose his new wife Holly.
This happens after Adam cancels his parents’ invitation to his wedding. A source told The Sun: “It was a very emotional moment for them as a family. They’re coming to terms with what happened and the fact that Adam chose his side. It killed any hope of a reconciliation in the near future. They’re trying not to attract attention and move on. It’s clear that Adam made his choice.”
The couple’s big day was overshadowed by an ugly family row which saw Adam’s mum left out of the ceremony and his sister Bethany the only close one from his side to attend the event.
The Sun reports that in his speech as father of the bride, Gordon commented on how beautiful Holly looked and told Adam he was a lucky man. The post goes on to claim that Gordon couldn’t resist the temptation to note the absence of Adam’s parents. It is later revealed that swimmer Adam’s divorced mother was outraged and hurt by the fact that Gordon mentioned the bitter family feud in his speech.
Holly defends her father’s speech despite Caroline’s outrage, saying she felt “very happy” during it.
In yet another taunt to Petey’s family, with whom she is at loggerheads, Holly reveals that her parents paid for her and Adam’s luxury honeymoon trip to Mauritius, saying it was their wedding present. She adds: “We’re going to Mauritius to lie on the beach – it was our wedding present from my parents. I had to tell Adam that our honeymoon wasn’t going to be around a 25m pool.”
Holly shared a number of photos, including a rather unusual one of Holly and Adam posing with her parents and David and Victoria Beckham. Since Adam’s parents were not attending the wedding, they stood next to the groom in the photo, and Gordon and Tana stood next to Holly. Adam is understood not to have mentioned his family or his parents in his speech, instead praising his swimming coach Mel Marshall for being everything to him and for inspiring him.
Holly revealed a few details about the wedding, sharing that she and Adam danced their first dance to George Michael’s “A Different Corner.” She also described dancing with her father Gordon as “so special”.
