The first 2025 edition of the Active Commerce Bonus program launched this Wednesday, with the Xunta allocating a budget of 2.5 million euros. This marks the seventh iteration of these incentives, designed to stimulate local commerce by offering discounts of up to 30 euros to consumers.
Starting this morning at 9 a.m., residents can download the bonus vouchers through the website established by the Ministry of Employment, Trade and Emigration. Onc obtained, these vouchers can be used at participating businesses displaying the Active commerce bonus logo. Registration requires providing personal information such as name, date of birth, ID number, residential postal code, mobile phone number, and email address.
The Galician government anticipates that this 2.5 million euro investment will generate 8.5 million euros in sales at local establishments.
How the Active Commerce Bonus Works
Each bonus provides access to a 30 euros incentive. As in previous editions, the bonuses are in QR digital format and can be stored in mobile wallet applications. Customers simply present the QR code at the point of sale to redeem the discount. These bonuses are exclusively for purchases in physical establishments and cannot be used for online transactions.
For purchases between 20 and 30 euros,a discount of 5 euros applies. This doubles to 10 euros for purchases between 30 and 50 euros. For purchases exceeding 50 euros, the incentive is capped at 15 euros. The discount amount is deducted from the total purchase value.
The discount applies to all products and services acquired in participating establishments, excluding vouchers or gift cards.
Consumers are encouraged to use their downloaded bonuses promptly. Unused bonuses will be deactivated once the allocated funds are fatigued.
“Each bonus will give access to a 30 euros incentive…available for use in purse applications (wallet) of the mobile after discharge.”
Returning a Purchased Item
In the case of a return, the refunded amount can be exchanged for another item of equal or greater value. Alternatively, the establishment may issue a voucher for the corresponding amount without an expiration date. According to the campaign guidelines published in the Dog (Diario Oficial de Galicia) on Tuesday, merchants are prohibited from refunding cash or crediting the amount back to the consumer’s credit card.
Establishments interested in participating had until May 20 to register. A key change this year is that businesses onyl need to register once for both editions of the program, reducing administrative burden.
As its inception in 2021, the Xunta has allocated 100 million euros to the program.
Last year alone, the Xunta invested 7.5 million euros in these discounts, facilitating 600,000 commercial transactions across the four provinces, boosting sales by 34 million euros across 7,500 participating establishments.
