In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, the association “Figli in Paradiso – wings between heaven and earth” is organizing a charity concert to benefit the pediatrics department of the “Vito Fazzi” hospital in Lecce. The event, scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 8 PM, will take place in the spacious area in front of the historic Acaja Castle, promising an evening of music and dance dedicated to supporting hospitalized children and their families.
Such initiatives are crucial, especially considering the emotional and financial strain families face when a child requires hospitalization. According to recent studies, access to supportive care and resources can substantially improve the well-being of both the child and their family during challenging times.
A Symphony of Talent: Maestro De Giorgi and the ànemos Group take Center Stage
The concert will feature original compositions by Maestro Luca De Giorgi, who also serves as the artistic director for the event. The ànemos group, along with special guests Daniela Bray (flute and Ottavino), alessandro Nassisi (accordion and voice), and Vito De Lorenzi (drums), will bring Maestro De Giorgi’s music to life.Adding to the evening’s artistic tapestry, young students from the Chassé dance center, under the artistic direction of Melissa Raho, will also perform.
“Figli in Paradiso”: A Beacon of hope for Bereaved Families
Founded in 1999 by Virginia Campanile, who sought solace and connection after the loss of her son Daniele, “Figli in Paradiso – wings between heaven and earth” has evolved into a vital support network for bereaved parents. Officially established as a formal institution on March 12, 2009, the association provides a safe space for mothers and fathers to share their experiences, offer mutual support, and navigate the grieving process together.
The purpose of the association, since its origins, is to support and support the parents and families who have been touched directly from the death of their young joint.

The Vernole section, spearheading the acaja event, is led by Anna Katia Toraldo. The association’s core mission is to provide unwavering support to parents and families grappling with the profound loss of a child, irrespective of the circumstances – be it illness, accident, suicide, or violence.
Recognizing the unique challenges faced by parents who have outlived their children, “Figli in Paradiso” is committed to helping families overcome feelings of isolation and despair. Through shared experiences, empathetic listening, and a discreet yet constant presence, the association guides bereaved families on a journey of faith and healing.
A Night of Remembrance and Hope
The evening will commence with a poignant rendition of “Life is Beautiful,” composed by Maestro Nicola Piovani, performed on the saxophone by the talented young Ludovica Toraldo. Admission to the event is free,subject to available seating. The initiative is proudly sponsored by the province of Lecce and the municipality of Vernole.
