The Ministry of Health and Population has announced the closure of 8 special centers for the treatment of addiction and unlicensed psychiatry in the Abu Nomros area of Giza Governorate, due to the violation of the health requirements and their practice of activity without a license. This procedure comes in implementation of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, by tightening control over addiction treatment centers and psychiatry to ensure their fulfillment of health standards And legal, in order to ensure the health and safety of citizens.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that a joint committee was formed by the Central Administration of NGOs and Licensing, the Free Therapy Department in Giza Governorate, the General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, and the National Council for Mental Health, in cooperation with the General Administration of Narcotics Control of the Ministry of Interior, has searched a number of private centers. It turns out that these centers practice addiction treatment activity without a license, and lacks the presence of qualified specialists to supervise medical services.
For his part, Dr. Hisham Zaki, Head of the Central Administration of NGOs and Licensing, pointed to the monitoring of severe violations in the centers (House of the Virgin, Al -Amal, Al -Farid, Free Way, Freedom Road, Future Generations, Path, and New Path).
Violations varied between the facilities administration without a license from the Ministry of Health in violation of Law No. 153 of 2004, and the failure to obtain the approval of the General Secretariat for Mental Health in accordance with Law No. 71 of 2009, and to engage in the medical profession without a license, as well as lack of adherence to infection control policies.
Zaki added that the violations also included the absence of doctors specializing in mental health, and the lack of medical examination rooms or qualified nursing staff, as well as the presence of non -supervisors in the Regional Center for Mental Health, and it was found that some of them are recovering from addiction, which poses a threat to patient health and safety.
He said that these centers have been closed and nomination, while reserving those responsible for their administration and referring them to the Public Prosecution to take legal measures.
Zaki stressed the continuation of intensive regulatory campaigns on private medical facilities to ensure adherence to health and legal standards, stressing that the ministry will take all legal measures against any violations monitored, with the aim of ensuring the provision of safe medical services and conforming to the standards, in order to preserve the health and safety of patients.
