North rhine-Westphalia Gears Up for Abitur Exams: Over 77,000 Students to Participate


Abitur Season Commences After Easter Break

Following the Easter break,North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) is preparing for the commencement of the Abitur exams. This year, approximately 70,000 students from around 1,000 institutions, including public and private high schools, complete schools, further training colleges, and Waldorf schools, will undertake these crucial assessments. The written exams are scheduled to begin on April 29th, marking a meaningful milestone in their academic journey.

Vocational College students to Follow

A week after their counterparts in general education schools, around 7,800 students from 231 vocational colleges will begin their Abitur exams on May 6th. The vocational colleges offer a diverse range of 47 examination subjects, reflecting the specialized nature of their professional fields. This ensures that the exams are tailored to the specific skills and knowledge acquired by students in these programs.

Minister’s Encouragement to Students

School Minister Dorothee Feller has extended her best wishes to all students preparing for the Abitur. She acknowledged the hard work and dedication required to reach this stage, emphasizing the exams as an opportunity to showcase their acquired skills.

Standardization Through joint Task Pool

NRW continues its participation in the joint task pool initiative with other federal states, ensuring comparability and quality across the nation.
