Mustangs down Clinton Prairie

Fountain Central dominated their home opener Thursday by defeating Clinton Prairie 49-22.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 16-4 first quarter lead and never looked back.

Fountain Central has not been outscored in each of their eight quarters of basketball.

Leading the Mustangs was Aubrey Ashwill who recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds and 11 points.

Bella Bacon scored 10 points.

Fountain Central (2-0) traveled Friday to Frankfort for the Hot Dogs’ season opener.

Athenians lose to Seeger

Crawfordsville was defeated Thursday by Seeger 60-32 in the Athenians home opener.

The Patriots led 19-9 after one quarter and 33-17 at the half.

Seeger’s Loreley Lanie scored 19 points and Caleigh Purcell added 13.

No Crawfordsville players statistics were reported.

Crawfordsville (1-1) plays Tuesday at Monon Athletic Conference foe Cascade.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

North 8th grade beats Cougars

North Montgomery’s 8th-grade team defeated North Putnam 49-20 on Thursday.

The Chargers’ double-digit scorers included Ethan King and Cash Cole with 13 and 11 points respectively. EJ Irizarry added eight points.

North jumped out to a 19-2 first quarter lead.

The Chargers (3-1, 2-0 MAC) travel Tuesday to Cascade.

Frankfort football coach released of duties

Frankfort is looking for a new football coach after first-year coach Justin Kinzie was let go.

The Hot Dogs were 0-10 this season.

Kinzie announced his firing on X and posted due to how his contract was written, he will not receive his full salary for this past season.

Kinzie, who had relocated his family to Frankfort, was the head coach for just 37 weeks.
