The third installment of Netflix’s Monster anthology series, Monster: The Ed Gein Story, landed in the top spot in Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart for the week of September 29.
This latest eight-episode season, which focuses on the infamous murderer and grave robber, debuted at the top of the chart with 1.527 billion viewing minutes, attracting an audience that was 59% in the Adults 18-49 demo. Meanwhile, 61% of its total audience belonged to the female demographic.
According to Nielsen streaming content ratings, two titles had over a billion viewing minutes, both belonging to Netflix. The streamer had five titles in the chart, one of which had shared distribution rights. It is worth noting that this week’s chart featured two titles with shared distribution rights.
Remaining in the No. 2 position for the second week in a row is Netflix’s Wayward, with 1.303 billion minutes viewed. The Canadian mystery thriller also generated interest among younger viewers as the Adults 18-34 demo represented a 20% share of the title’s total viewing audience.
Leaping to third place from eighth was the shared title NCIS, from Hulu, Netflix, and Paramount+, with 817 million viewing minutes. It was followed by Prime Video’s Play Dirty, which had 788 million minutes viewed.
In the No. 5 position is the long-running series Law & Order shared between Hulu and Peacock, with 768 million viewing minutes.
Slipping to sixth place is KPop Demon Hunters with 731 million minutes viewed. It was followed by Paramount+’s SpongeBob SquarePants, which fell three spots with 724 million viewing minutes.
In eighth place was Netflix’s Love Is Blind with 698 million minutes viewed. Disney+’s Bluey landed in the No. 9 spot with 692 million viewing minutes.
Finally, Hulu’s Bob’s Burgers reappeared in the chart in tenth place, with 666 million minutes.
