While Frankenstein (Stratus) is dominant around the world, infectious disease specialist Prof. Dr. Nuriye Taşdelen Fışgın gave information to Milliyet about the issue.
4 seasons visible
Fışgın said, “Covid-19 causes infection in all four seasons. This year, 81 percent of the cases are XFG and 11.6 percent are NB.1.8.1 variants. Both variants spread rapidly. It does not appear that the two variants currently in circulation pose a public health risk. However, an increase in hospitalizations is observed, especially in regions with an increase in cases. Especially in patients aged 65 and over, the risk of severe development is high.” “It is stated that the number of deaths has increased and 87 percent of the reported deaths are seen in people aged 65 and over,” he said.
Common symptom: dry cough
Prof. Dr. Nuriye Taşdelen Fışgın listed fever, sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose and dry cough among the covid symptoms: “Nausea and diarrhea are also reported in some patients. Some of these findings are similar to seasonal flu. However, according to the Ministry of Health, there has been an increase in covid among patients diagnosed with viral respiratory tract infections in Türkiye in recent months.”
