Reconnect with Nature | Planet-Friendly Living

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

What if the first step to taking care of the planet was to adopt compost? This is the beginning of the family story of Charlie, 6 years old, and Zach, 11 years old, their parents Debbie and Manuel, and their best friends Léon and Bintou. The animated series Compostman and me (52 eleven-minute episodes) is inspired by the comic strips (Almost) zero waste family et Zchildren almost zero waste by Jérémie Pichon and Bénédicte Moret, published by Éditions Thierry-Souccar, and sold more than 250,000 copies.

“We recreated characters, those of a family in ecological transition, with stories accessible to children, explain Abdelraouf Zaidi, co-director of Superprod. Our goal was not to be moralistic, but to provide elements through moments of life, where the family discovers, learns and reconnects with nature. »

Funny, playful

Recycling, waste recovery, biodiversity, shared gardens… are some of the themes covered. All the very colorful sets for this series, which took two years to develop, were created in the Vivement Lundi studios! in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), the entertainment between Angoulême (Charente) and Italy.

It’s fun, humorous and worth watching with the family. Children can easily relate, as can parents: “The characters are not on the same level. The little girl is all in, the boy Zach, a teenager, thinks more about listening to music, skateboarding, than sorting the decheds », explains Jean Duval, co-director. Compostman, a terribly endearing character, is at the heart of the series. “It’s a pile of leaves that can grow, change size. We imagined him as a companion that children would love to have at home. He’s funny, kind, positive. » And through contact with it, children see how they can act for the planet in their daily lives as children.

On Draft from Wednesday October 15, 2025 and from October 20 on France 3 .
