Centenarians & Health: Age Doesn’t Equal Disease | Study Findings

by Archynetys Health Desk

Modern Swedish studies have found that old people who have been over a hundred years of age suffer from less diseases in general, develop more slowly, and are unlikely to be subjected to deadly diseases compared to people who live a shorter life.

According to the “Fox News” website, quoting Geroscience, the study relied on the historical data of people over the age of 60 years, who were born between 1912 and 1922, where researchers followed up these individuals from 1972 to 2022, taking into account the age of their deaths, as well Hip, different types of cancer.

Study results

It was found that perennials have less lifelong risk in all diseases except for hip fractures, indicating that people who have reached 100 years are able to delay and avoid many major age -related diseases.

These results challenge the idea that the longer age inevitably leads to high rates of disease, according to researchers.

Health problems for the elderly

The study discussed how health problems accumulated in the elderly and manage them throughout their lives, instead of avoiding them, and the researchers tracked the health of the participants who were born between 1920 and 1922, and compared to the paths of diseases in the perennials with those who did not live long.

It turns out that people over the age of 100 have fewer conditions that have been diagnosed, and they suffer from the accumulation of diseases at a slower rate.

The researchers found that cardiovascular diseases were the most common diagnoses of all ages, but they contributed less to the total burden of the disease among those who reached the age of 100, while malignant tumors, such as cancer cells that are usually spread, existed widely in the perennials, while nervous and psychological conditions, such as anxiety and dementia disorders, were less common.

An expert of aging said that the people who were born in the 1920s have avoided harmful additives in food and radiation for many years.
