A nearly full stadium witnessed a goalless draw as Inter Miami and Egyptian team Al Ahly played to a 0-0 tie in the opening match of the club World Cup. despite the efforts of Lionel Messi, neither team could find the back of the net.
The match in Miami saw a crowd of 60,927. The 37-year-old Messi, in what may be his first and last Club World Cup under the new format, strived to ignite the game.
Messi nearly broke the deadlock with a free kick that hit the post, but unfortunately for Miami, it bounced out.
In the final minutes, Messi delivered a cross to Fafa Picault, but Mohamed El Shenawy saved the attempt.
El Shenawy again denied Miami, pushing a shot over the crossbar.
“He only missed one goal to give a little more flashy to this exotic poster to say the least.”
