The young Swedish golfer battles tough conditions in the frist round of the US Open at Oakmont Country Club.
The US Open, hosted this year at the formidable Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh, is proving to be a stern test for many golfers, wiht its challenging rough and slick greens.
Among those contending is Swede Ludvig Åberg. The 25-year-old, who teed off early, enjoyed a strong start with consecutive birdies, briefly holding the lead.
However,the course’s difficulty soon presented itself.
Åberg reflects on Costly Misses
“it was pretty much, I missed the wrong times a couple of times, which I disturb but it was totally okay,” said Åberg, reflecting on his early start to the day.
The Swede displayed moments of brilliance but also suffered from some costly errors. After a mixed second nine, featuring four birdies and six bogeys, Åberg concluded the round at two over par.
“I missed the wrong places which I disturbed. there is little to work on but a perfectly okay result anyway,” Åberg commented after his first round.
With over half the field either finished or in progress, few golfers have managed to score at or below par. Fellow Swede, Joakim Lagergren, is currently six over par after twelve holes.
American JJ Spaun leads in the clubhouse with a score of -4.
