Karissa Rivera,previously known as Elektra lopez during her time with World Wrestling entertainment (WWE),has recently addressed her release from the company,which occurred on February 10th. Rivera, who had a role managing Legado del Fantasma, shared her perspective in an interview on the Fan’s View podcast.
Rivera’s Ambitions and Unexpected Release
Rivera recounted her efforts to expand her role beyond management, expressing a desire to participate more actively in wrestling events. She stated, “I was saying I wanted to be on live events and wanted to work with girls as I want to wrestle. I don’t want to just manage… I can wrestle and when I tried out, I tried out as a wrestler, not as a manager… I also wanted to build a name for myself, not just be in the shadows of the boys.”
The timing of her release coincided with her one-year anniversary on the main roster, adding to the surprise. Rivera explained,”I was on TV that Friday… I get home and it was maybe 2:30 in the afternoon and I get a call,and they told me the news. No reason given.”
She voiced her belief that her potential was not fully realized, saying, “I feel like I wasn’t given a fair possibility… you didn’t really give me an opportunity to show you what I can do when I’m more than just a manager. You brought me up to be in the role and put me in a box and then you cut me because it didn’t work out.”
Future Plans
Rivera is scheduled to appear at HOG’s Puerto Rican weekend on June 7th, signaling her continued involvement in professional wrestling.
“I feel like I wasn’t given a fair opportunity… you didn’t really give me an opportunity to show you what I can do when I’m more than just a manager.”
