At her birth, Toni weighed just 3.5 kilograms. In the meantime, the dwarf flow horse has grown into a stately young teenager and weighs around 80 kilograms. She is now about half as large and almost half as heavy as her mother, the 200 kilograms weighed, said a spokeswoman for the Berlin Zoo. “She is still a great darling of zoo visitors, both on site and on social media.”
The almost one year -old dwarf flow horse – Toni was born on June 3, 2024 – now feeds exclusively on solid food. The teeth are already clearly visible. Your absolute favorite snack are still peanuts. But she doesn’t get it every day, but only as a special treat.
Toni allows joke with zookeepers
The hippo girl is on the way to sexual maturity, accordingly her behavior changes. She is becoming more and more independent and showing a growing interest in her surroundings.
Toni is extremely playful and likes to dive. She recently allowed herself a little joke. When a zookeeper was looking for her, she first stayed under water and then reappeared at another point. “A typical ‘toni moment’, curious, smart and a little cheeky,” said the spokeswoman.
20,000 name suggestions were submitted
Videos from Toni while splashing and bathing went viral last year and were viewed millions of times. People from all over the world submitted names – a total of around 20,000. The name Toni is based on football player Antonio Rüdiger, who took over the sponsorship for the mini hippo.
