Priguna Anugerah P., initially accused of misconduct, has taken a disturbing turn.what began as a single allegation has now expanded to include accusations from three women, raising serious questions about systemic failures within the Indonesian healthcare system. The rise in reported victims suggests a deeper, more pervasive issue than initially perceived.
Legislators Demand Thorough Investigation and Systemic Overhaul
Members of DPR Commission IX are voicing strong concerns, characterizing the situation as “systemic and serious.” Ashabul Kahfi, a member of the commission, expressed deep worry, stating that the increasing number of victims suggests a failure in hospital oversight and medical education. He suspects more victims may be hesitant to come forward, highlighting the urgent need for a extensive investigation.
“The increase in the number of victims shows the potential of other victims who so far may not dare to speak and this must be alarm for all parties, that we must not underestimate this problem. This is not only a matter of individuals, but about the failure of the supervision system and professional ethics in the hospital environment and medical education institutions,”

Kahfi urged law enforcement to ensure justice for all victims and called upon the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) and medical institutions to re-evaluate specialist education protocols.
Calls for Audit and Reform of Healthcare Recruitment
Echoing these concerns, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission IX, Charles Honoris, has called for a comprehensive audit of healthcare worker recruitment procedures and complaint mechanisms. He emphasized the importance of preventing similar incidents in the future.
“As a supervisory partner of the Ministry of Health, we urge the Ministry of Health to promptly conduct a comprehensive audit of recruitment, supervision, and complaint mechanism procedures in health care facilities, both in government and private hospitals,”
Charles Honoris, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission IX
Honoris stressed that ther should be zero tolerance for such actions and advocated for the strictest possible punishment for the perpetrator. The call for audits comes at a time when public trust in healthcare institutions is already fragile, with recent surveys indicating a growing concern about patient safety and ethical conduct within the medical profession.
Details of the Alleged Incidents
Initial reports focused on a victim identified as FH (21). However, investigations have revealed two additional patients from RSHS Bandung who allege similar experiences. West Java Regional Police Commissioner Surawan confirmed that these two individuals underwent examination and reported similar treatment by the suspect.
The incidents reportedly occurred on March 10 and March 16, with the location mirroring that of the initial reported incident.
The Broader Context: Medical Ethics and Patient Safety
This case underscores the critical need for robust ethical guidelines and stringent oversight within the medical field. According to a 2024 report by the Indonesian Medical Council, there has been a concerning rise in reported ethical violations among healthcare professionals. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for abuse of power within the doctor-patient relationship and the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for patients to report misconduct.
