“Hell’s Paradise” is a popular action anime about a mysterious island where immortal creatures and terrible monsters live, flowers of unprecedented beauty grow and, most importantly, the elixir of longevity is stored. So, let’s talk about the characters of the anime “Hell’s Paradise”.

Criminals in the anime “Hell’s Paradise”

By order of the shogun, the strongest criminals were collected and sentenced to death. In exchange for pardon, they are entrusted with a mission to obtain the elixir of immortality. To do this, criminals need to go to a paradise island inhabited by creepy monsters. The one who returns with the elixir will receive freedom.

Gabimaru – the main character of the anime “Hell’s Paradise”. He is a young shinobi from the village of Iwagakura who carries out missions to kill people. Gabimaru is famous for his invulnerability, enormous strength and composure. He killed many people without fear or regret, for which he received the nickname Empty. Gabimaru’s ruthlessness began to subside only when he met his wife Yui. The girl instilled in him a sense of compassion for others and gave him a dream of a happy life together. However, Gabimaru was captured by the shogun’s men and sent to a paradise island as punishment for his crimes. The only thing that makes Gabimaru fight and strive to complete the task is the desire to see his wife again, who remained in the village of Iwagakura.

Yuzuriha – a criminal and an experienced kunoichi. In battle, she uses special ninjutsu. With the help of potions, Yuzuriha secretes poisonous mucus from her skin. She can control this slime like a weapon, using it as a whip or fetters. Yuzuriha is a cunning, resourceful and calculating girl who quickly adapts to difficult situations and always strives to survive by any means. She skillfully manipulates men, using her seduction techniques on them.

Gantetsusai Tamiya – a criminal and famous swordsman. This is a tall and strong man who fights with a huge sword. Gantetsusai is not interested in completing the task; he himself wants to become immortal. But not with the help of the elixir, but by becoming famous in battle as a warrior.

Adza to you – a criminal and a bandit. Chobei has a durable body, enormous physical strength and hand-to-hand combat skills. On the island, he discovers new abilities and quickly understands how to use them. He went on a mission to find the elixir with his younger brother named Touma, who acts as his overseer.

Nurugai – a young criminal who was unjustly accused and exiled to the island. She is the last survivor of the Sanka people, who were brutally murdered. Nurugai is open, brave and sometimes reckless. On the island she found someone who wanted to protect her, and someone who taught her to defend herself.

Executioners in the anime “Hell’s Paradise”

Who are called executioners in Hell’s Paradise? These are swordsmen from the Yamada clan, subordinate to the shogun. They and the criminals go to a paradise island. The task of the convicts is to find the elixir, the task of the executioners is to ensure that the criminals do not escape and complete the task. The guards are not obliged to help in the search for the elixir or protect criminals, but, once on an island with monsters, they also find themselves in not the best conditions, so they are free to act at their own discretion.

Sagiri – one of the strongest swordsmen of the Yamada clan, playing the role of executioner on the paradise island. She is assigned to the criminal Gabimaru, however, despite her duties as a supervisor, she becomes close to the killer and develops sympathy for him. She is a responsible and kind girl who helps everyone who needs it.

Senta – a swordsman from the Yamada clan, assigned to the criminal Yuzuriha. This is a well-read and intelligent man who understands history, art, mythology and religions. Senta is kind to both his comrades and criminals. In his youth, he dreamed of becoming an artist, but, being born into the Yamada clan, he was forced to obey the will of his elders and become a swordsman and blade tester.

Zion – A blind swordsman from the Yamada clan. Despite his illness, he has excellent spatial orientation and deftly fights opponents. This is a calm and selfless man. Initially, Sion was Akaginu’s overseer, and after that he began to monitor, or rather even take care of, Nurugai.

feet – Swordsman from the Yamada clan. He is interested in studying human bodies, doing autopsies, and also knows how to heal wounds. Having learned about immortals, he wanted to study them in all possible scientific ways. Gantetsusai Tamiya arrived on Fuchi Island as an executioner.

Tom – Swordsman from the Yamada clan. Although he arrived on the island as an executioner assigned to Chobei Adze, he was completely on the side of this criminal. This is because Chobei is his older brother.

Sugen – A strong swordsman with a high position in the Yamada clan. Together with a group of subordinates, he goes to the island to monitor the completion of the task of finding the elixir, and also to help his fellow executioners. Shugen is merciless with criminals and intends to kill everyone he meets on the island. Especially for this purpose, he dulls his sword in order to cause more pain to his opponents.

Dzikka – An experienced swordsman from the Yamada clan. Together with Shugen, he goes to the island as reinforcements. Jikka is smart, reserved and calculating. Always behaves relaxed, even in the presence of superiors.

Probation (Lord Probation)

Who are tensen? These are immortal beings who rule the island. With the help of the elixir of immortality – tan – they preserve youth and beauty for centuries. However, to create a thana, they require human sacrifices. Tensen masterfully control tao, the life force that underlies all things. With its help, they can transform their body from male to female and vice versa, and also enter the Kishikai state. Tensen are capable of regenerating their body parts and healing the most severe wounds, even if they are torn apart.

In the anime Hell’s Paradise, seven tensen serve as the main antagonists. Their appearance was shown to the audience back in the first season, but their abilities are revealed gradually.

Rien – leader of the tensen. He has a stern and domineering character. Rien commands the other tensen and maintains order on the island, worrying about resources for making tana and maintaining the balance of power. Rien is also engaged in Tao research, wanting to achieve perfection and true immortality.

Zhu Jin – Lord Tensen and one of the seven rulers of the island. Practices immortality through breathing techniques. During his fight with Gabimaru, Zhu Jin enters the Kishikai state and takes the form of a huge flower with limbs.

Mu Dan – Lord Tensen and one of the seven rulers of the island. Practices immortality through tao using points and organs. He proved himself during the battle with criminals and guards at the walls of Harai (the central part of the island where the tensen live). He is an arrogant and talkative immortal who underestimates his opponents, constantly discussing their abilities and shortcomings during battle.

Ran – Lord Tensen and one of the seven rulers of the island. Practices immortality through body training. He is very dexterous and flexible, has great physical strength and well-trained muscles. The main characters encountered him after they entered the tensen’s domain.

Guy Fa – Lord Tensen and one of the seven rulers of the island. Practices immortality through meditation. He is interested in books and martial arts.

Tao Fa And Zui Fa – Tensen lords and rulers of the island. Practice immortality together. They are halves of one being and can merge into one.

May is not one of the lords of the island, since she left the tensen. However, Mei’s nature is the same as theirs. She is also immortal, but refuses to use a thane made from human sacrifices. Because of this, her tao weakened. Mei is in the form of a child, but after using the power, Tao becomes more mature. This is a kind, friendly and sympathetic girl who does not want to harm people, as other lords do, but, on the contrary, decides to help the guests of the island.

Other characters

Prime Minister of Tokugawa – a shogun who wants to get the elixir of immortality. He gives the order to collect the criminals and then send them to the island.

Yui – Gabimaru’s wife and daughter of the head of the Iwagakura village. She became the one who was able to reach the heart of the main character and make him think about his actions. Yui didn’t want Gabimaru to kill people, but she understood that it was part of his job and it wouldn’t be easy to change it. The girl became the meaning of life for him. For the sake of meeting her, the hero strives to complete the shogun’s task in order to return home again. Yui is a kind, open and smiling girl. There is a large scar on her face, but she is not at all shy about it, which pleasantly surprised Gabimaru.

Hoko – the last surviving resident of the village of paradise island. The rest turned into tree monsters, and then completely lost the ability to move, becoming ordinary trees. Hoko lasted the longest and lived for several centuries with Mei in a deserted village.
