On the occasion of the Brain Week 2026five events free are offered in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche) from Thursday March 19 to Monday March 30.
Two major themes will be highlighted:
- The participatory research faced with the attacks at the IUT of Cherbourg, rue Max-Pol-Foucher;
- THE neurodevelopmental disorders at the Quasar cultural center (basement of the Jacques-Prévert library and the Thomas-Henry museum), esplanade de la Laïcité.
These events will offer grand public a rare opportunity to meet researchers, clinicians and community stakeholders.
A conference on March 19 at the IUT of Cherbourg

During a conference Thursday, March 19 at 8 p.m., three recognized specialists will explore how science accompanies the victims attacks of November 13, 2015:
- Francis Eustache, born in Virandeville, French researcher in neuropsychology and in brain imaging, co-responsible for the November 13 research program “Neuropsychology and Imaging of Human Memory”;
- Peggy Quinettelecturer in psychology at the University of Caen;
- Caroline Lemoinedoctoral student in psychology in Caen.
An exhibition from March 19 to 30
The March 19 conference inaugurated a exposition which will end on Monday March 30. The latter will highlight what the science says attacks of November 13, 2015 by offering a dive into ten years of interdisciplinary research: neuroscience, psychology, sociology, public health.
The public will discover how individual and collective memory after a traumaimproving methods of support and monitoring, social impacts of an event terroristTHE monitoring and prevention tools.
And documentary film will give the floor to scientists, victims et association leaders.
Tuesday March 24 at 8 p.m.: a conference at the Quasar cultural center
Every year, 8,000 children in France are born with a disorder linked to prenatal exposure to alcohol (TAF : Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder).
A conference Tuesday March 24 at 8 p.m.will explain the impacts on the brain development the behaviorand the learning.
Will be present:
- Bérénice Roy-Doraydean of the UFR Santé de La Réunion, head of the medical genetics department and director of the TSAF Resource Center;
- Maryline Lecointreresearcher specializing in epigenetics and neurodevelopmental diseases;
- Olga Eglinrepresentative of the Vivre avec le SAF association, which supports affected families and children;
- Elisabeth of Sainte Loretteteacher and creator of the Logical Sense teaching method;
Round table on Thursday March 26 at 8 p.m.
Troubles dys, ADHD, TSA : what are we really talking about? Bérengère Guillerydirector of studies at EPHE, researcher in cognitive neuroscience; Damien Caronnetneurologist at the University Hospital, specialist in cognitive disorders; Michèle Siard vice-president of Autisme Basse-Normandie and Elisabeth of Sainte Lorettewill decipher neurodevelopmental disorders.
The objective is to provide clear explanations, reliable benchmarks and fight against prejudice . This meeting aims to better understand the mechanisms cerebral, the diagnostic criteriaand the existing solutions .
A documentary screening on Friday March 27 at 8 p.m.
The documentary screening: Atypicalby Marion Wagner, will close this brain week.
This documentary follows five neuroatypical adults(HPI, ADHD, ASD, dys-, Tourette syndrome) who tell their coursetheir forces and the way they learned to live with their differences,without trying to “heal”.
