King Willem-Alexander flew as a guest pilot for the last time on board the Boeing 737 on Wednesday. The royal family shared this in a video on Instagram on Thursday.
In the video Willem-Alexander can be seen in the cockpit. The song Mr. sounds in the background. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra. “That was it,” the king says at the end of the video. The king will not stop as a pilot, by the way. He will be retrained in the near future to fly Airbus aircraft.
In the caption of the video, Willem-Alexander shares memories of his flights on board the Boeing 737. “Over the years we have brought so many passengers from A to B with the 737. This mix of people and moments made flying special,” said the king. “We flew football supporters from Feyenoord and AZ to Prague for the Europa League, children to Lapland to meet Santa Claus, but also holiday flights to Ibiza and Malaga. I hope to welcome the same colorful group back to the Airbus.”
