Busting health myths is a serious enough mission to warrant the full force of Joyce Harper’s humour. I’m sitting with University College London’s (UCL) eminent Professor of Reproductive Science in a room high above the twinkling lights of Tottenham Court Road, as she laughs aloud and tells me about a current nemesis. This is not who you might imagine, not some illustrious scientist with a long list of credentials to rival her own, but an Instagrammer, typical—in Harper’s opinion—of a growing number of people who spread health misinformation online.
