“If you were among the many who once believed LiAngelo Ball would one day perform at an NBA All-Star Game, you can at least say you were partially right,” according to this new development. The Basketbrawl’s middle son, now pursuing a career in music, will take the stage at the pre-All-Star festivities in San Francisco, as revealed by ESPN’s Shams Charania.

LiAngelo Ball’s Music Career Takes Off

A month prior to his performance, Ball inked a monumental deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group, worth up to $13 million, with $8 million guaranteed. His debut single, “Tweaker,” surfaced on WorldstarHipHop’s YouTube channel on January 3 and has garnered more than 14 million views to date. The accompanying music video, released last week, has already surpassed 5 million views, and a remix featuring legendary rapper Lil Wayne dropped on Thursday, further boosting his momentum.

Past Performances

This won’t be Ball’s first time in the spotlight. Earlier this season, he made an untelevised performance at the Detroit Lions’ divisional-round game against the Washington Commanders. The Lions played his song in the locker room after securing their division title, bringing a new level of excitement to his career.

LiAngelo Ball’s Basketball Background

Unlike his older brother, Lonzo, and younger brother, LaMelo, who both have competed in the NBA, LiAngelo Ball never graced the court. As a high school prodigy, he was a three-star recruit and followed Lonzo to UCLA. However, accusations of theft during a trip to China led to his suspension from the team. He left before he could be reinstated and never made it to the NBA draft in 2018.

Since his college days, he’s played in his father’s Junior Basketball Association, appeared in 31 games with the G League Greensboro Swarm, and had a brief stint with Mexico’s CIBACOPA last year.

Siblings’ NBA Careers

While LiAngelo’s path has been unconventional compared to his brothers’, LaMelo and Lonzo have achieved significant milestones in the NBA. LaMelo was one of the most notable snubs from the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, despite a standout season and the most fan votes in the Eastern Conference. He did participate in 2022. Lonzo, though he hasn’t made the All-Star team, has been selected for two Rising Stars Challenges, only missing both due to injuries.

The Future of LiAngelo Ball

Ball’s transition into the music industry marks a new chapter, filled with possibilities and challenges. With the success of his debut single and the backing of major labels, he has a strong foundation to build his empire. The pre-All-Star Show performance in San Francisco is a significant step towards cementing his status not only as a musician but also as a figure in popular culture.

As he navigates a landscape different from the one he once envisioned, LiAngelo Ball is embracing the next chapter with enthusiasm, proving that sometimes, it’s the unexpected paths that lead to the most rewarding journeys.
