Federal agents shot and killed a person in Minneapolis, according to what the Department of Homeland Security announced, noting that “the man violently resisted the officers’ attempts to disarm him.”
The ministry said in a post on the “X” platform, “A federal soldier fired defensive shots, fearing for his life and the lives of his companions. Paramedics at the site immediately provided medical aid to the suspect, who was declared dead at the site.”
The ministry added, “The shooting occurred during an operation against an irregular immigrant wanted on charges of committing a violent assault.”
This came after the spread of a video clip, whose authenticity has not been verified, of a person who appears to have been shot during unrest, with gunshots being heard and the presence of at least one person at the scene wearing a jacket bearing the words “Police.”
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said on the “X” platform: “I spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting carried out by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had enough. This is disgusting.”
He added: “The president must end this operation. Pull thousands of violent and untrained operatives from Minnesota. Now.”
