TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Crews battled an early-morning house fire Thursday in central Topeka.
The blaze was reported around 3 a.m. Thursday at 1224 S.W. Lincoln St.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the eaves of the residence.
Firefighters entered the home and encountered heavy smoke conditions.
The fire was located in the basement and was quickly extinguished by responding crews, officials said.
A Topeka Fire Department Investigation Unit responded to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
The cause of the blaze was determined to be accidental and electrical in nature.
Smoke detectors were found in the home.
There was no word on whether anyone was inside the residence at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported as of late Thursday morning.
The Topeka Fire Department response included three engine companies, two truck companies and two battalion chiefs.
Evergy and Kansas Gas Service also responded to the scene.
