The OnePlus 15 is now getting a new update with the January 2025 Android security patch. This update is marked as 16.0.3.501, and it’s based on Android 16 with OxygenOS 16, of course.
The OnePlus 15 starts getting the January 2025 Android update with plenty of changes
The update itself weighs 1.01GB, and it started rolling out in India. The update will quickly spread to other markets, if it hasn’t already. The security boost is not the only change here, though.
OnePlus did release a changelog for the update, and there are quite a few changes listed. You can now browse files in Private Safe by sliding the side slider. The update also allows you to search for files from folders in Private Save and share files in Private Safe.
The update also improves the stability of network connections and allows you to launch the storage cleanup tools from Smart Sidebar. Using automatic straightening when cropping and rotating portrait and architectural photos in the Photos app is also a possibility.
Video editing has been much improved
The phone’s video editing function now supports cutting, splitting, multi-clip stitching, music, text, speed adjustment, cropping, and more. This will make editing videos a breeze, it’s a huge update, actually.
The filter in the Photos app now supports ‘Motion Photo’, ‘Screenshots & screen recordings’, and ‘Edited’ options. The thumbnail parshing method in the Photos app has been improved as well.
You can now also drag to resize app clone icons and add shortcuts, while the activation of the ‘Circle to Search’ feature has been improved. These are only the most important changes, but there are more of them listed in the changelog.
Even when this update does arrive to your region, do note that it’s rolling out in stages. In other words, it may take a bit of time before it reaches your OnePlus 15so be patient.
