So far this system has been used as a scanner at Tanjung Priok Port.

“We report it to Customs and Excise. Customs and Excise has made progress on the IT side. And we also report it at several ports. We are installing new scanners. In Tanjung Priok 8, later it will be increased to 9. In other places we will also fulfill it,” said Purbaya at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Monday (15/12/2025).
“So we’ll tell you later. We have used an AI system,” he continued.
Purbaya said the scanner will directly compare prices with the marketplace. Usually, there are a lot of price games at ports that result in prices not being paid as they should be.
“Where, if you check prices, it’s not done directly like manually. The AI directly detects how much the price is. We automatically check the prices on the real time marketplace. Later in those areas we will take them to the center for price comparisons,” continued Purbaya.
“So the regions can no longer determine what the price should be. So they can’t play. It will reduce games there,” he added.
In every area where the economic scale is large enough, Customs and Excise will install these sophisticated sensors. By March, all of this technology will be able to work perfectly.
“I hope that by March all the AI will be running, it will be perfect. It will be good. Later I will take it to the port, to the monitoring center at Customs later,” said Purbaya.
Customs and Excise is being closely monitored by Purbaya, there is a threat of freezing the agency if no improvements are made. So, efforts to use this technology will be an improvement effort carried out by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
“So I hope they will change. And I was a bit surprised by some people, their IT is quite smart. So they made the AI yesterday at the Port, it took 2 weeks. They were quite smart. They won, if I’m not mistaken, 1st place in the software creation competition held by the Corruption Eradication Commission,” said Purbaya.
