During Invisible Heritage Week, Santiago de Compostela has opened one of its most unknown corners: the catacombs located under the Cathedral. This space, normally closed to the public, has only been visited by a small group of people and a team of journalists.
Four meters below the temple is a necropolis more than 1,200 years old, with rock-cut tombs and surprisingly well-preserved human remains. Also The remains of the first basilica of the 9th century appear, built after the supposed discovery of the Apostle.
These excavations show the origins of the city, from Roman vestiges to the early days of Christianity.
