Ingeborg Sergeant: The Masked Singer Reveal – Sheep Unmasked

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

The investigators spent some time trying to figure it out, but in the end they unanimously agreed. Sheep couldn’t be anyone other than Ingeborg Sergeant (59). Their guess turned out to be the right one. “However, I have remained under the radar for a long time,” says the TV face proudly.

No voice changer

It was not nothing, her participation in this singing competition. For most companies, the difficulty is simply not to sing out of tune in such a suit, but Ingeborg effortlessly added an extra assignment to that. “The request came from production to make my voice sound less recognizable and more one with the character of the suit. It was a challenge, but I immediately liked it.”

Together with singing coach Ibernice Macbean, the VTM face practiced non-stop to completely change her voice. “Absolutely no voice changer or technology was involved, I did it all myself,” says Ingeborg proudly. “It took effort to sing all those songs with that sheep’s voice. You put pressure on your vocal cords, so it is not healthy. Afterwards I had to have my voice repaired. Fortunately I received good guidance.”

Sheep jargon

To get into the character of Schaapje, Ingeborg also had to do some research. “You don’t want to know how many sheep sounds I know by heart. I looked everything up: a happy sheep, a scared sheep, a sad sheep, you name it. I knew all the sounds, so I could use them alternately during my performances.”

Although Ingeborg recently appeared on the radar of investigators, she was able to participate unnoticed for a long time. “That was very strange,” he said. “I am always mentioned in other seasons. People would always come to me and think I was in one of the suits. And when I actually participate, the suspicion remains. Anyway: I also handled it quite smartly. I sometimes fled abroad and practiced there. My husband and I are building in Spain. There we are working on a house with a view of the sea, so that I can continue to give yoga workshops. That building should be ready in 2027. It is not the intention to to emigrate completely, because we are also grandparents and I also have my job here. But I do intend to take it easier within a few years.”

Hullabaloo

As a singer, it was unique for Ingeborg to perform with a voice that is not hers. “In the past at Slide-off I’ve played characters before, but it’s not quite the same. When that revelation finally came and I was allowed to sing in my own voice, it felt liberating.”

Ingeborg had previously taken part in a singing competition with her own voice. For example, in 1989 she represented our country at the Eurovision Song Contest. She then brought them to Lausanne By the windmaking her nineteenth. It has not escaped Ingeborg’s notice that the competition is currently in turbulent waters. “It is a delicate matter to make statements about that as an artist,” she says. “The purpose of the Eurovision Song Contest is to connect people through music. We must therefore enter into much more dialogue with each other. It is not a solution to make a country or a group of people the bad guy. If you say: ‘I will no longer participate’, you will isolate yourself. While we have to continue to communicate. So much is said and written about it, but we should not forget that it is an incredible honor for the candidates to be able to represent the country. I am still very grateful that I was allowed to do that.”

That feeling also prevails afterwards The masked singerIngeborg emphasizes. Performing as a sheep is no longer an option for the time being, although she does have something else to focus on in the meantime. “I’m looking forward to my series of sing-along concerts. That’s a nice ending for this year,” says the singer. “I’m really looking forward to performing there again. And I mean with my real voice. Sheep will then stay at home.” (laughs)
