900HP Off-Road Monster: Unrivaled 4×4 Domination

by Archynetys Economy Desk

The Mercedes G-Class has never been discreet. But what Brabus gets out of it with the Rocket Edition is technical madness. At a time when the industry is trying to fit the SUV into ethical, ecological and reasonable boxes, Brabus is taking the complete opposite approach. It swells, muscles, exaggerates everything that can be – and this is precisely what gives the brutal charm of this extraordinary creation.

Under the hood, the twin-turbo V8 now displays 900 hp and a stratospheric 1,250 Nm of torque, propelling this military cube to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. Suffice to say that we are no longer talking here about a 4×4, but about a elevated supercar weighing more than 2.7 tonnes, as fast as an AMG GT coupe. And to withstand this mechanical violence, everything has been reinforced, rethought, redesigned: engine, gearbox, chassis, aerodynamics, and even the sound, reworked to scream like a missile.

But more than an exercise in style or performance, the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition is a collector’s item. Produced in only 25 copiespriced at more than €570,000, it is aimed neither at lovers of half-measures nor at the timid. It is a declaration of intent on four wheels, a manifesto against the tide of political correctness. And that’s why we’re talking about it.

Brabus 900 Rocket Edition: when a G63 becomes an attack machine

The G63 AMG is already not an SUV like the others. With its twin-turbo V8, all-wheel drive and luxury adventurer look, it combines exuberance and efficiency. But for Brabus, this is just a starting point. The Rocket Edition pushes every slider to the max. The engine is completely redesigned, the tracks are widened, the body modified with carbon elements, and the chassis receives specific treatment to accommodate the new cavalry.

Hyundai launches an SUV with impeccable numbers on paper, but everyone already knows that no one will buy it and the price is not the only problem

Brabus doesn’t just over-engine. He rebuilds. The hood adopts an oversized Powerdome, the wings gain volume, the shields are sculpted like those of a supercar. The name “Rocket” is not a stylistic effect: it is the signature of a vehicle designed to provoke as much as impress. We are far from the family SUV. We are in the world of war machines for open roads.

The result is a mechanical object weighing more than 2.7 tonnes, capable of performance comparable to certain Porsche Turbos, with the presence of a behemoth and a high-fashion finish. An aberration? Yes. But a perfectly assumed aberration.

A technical sheet that would put many supercars to shame

The heart of the monster is a 4.5 liter twin-turbo V8 prepared at home. He delivers 900 horsepower and a couple of 1 250 Nmelectronically limited to 1,050 Nm so as not to destroy the 9-speed automatic transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h exercise is completed in 3.7 secondsdespite the size. A time worthy of an Audi R8 or a Mercedes AMG GT R.

This sedan has the dimensions of an Audi A6, the price of a Toyota Yaris and a 160 hp turbo engine: no, it’s not a mistake

The maximum speed is limited to 240 km/hnot for lack of power, but to preserve stability and the tires. And for good reason: the 24-inch rims, shod with high-performance tires, must withstand the weight and constraints of such a vehicle. The braking system has been oversized, as has the electronically controlled suspension.

It’s a rolling paradox: a vehicle born for crossing transformed into a drag race car. A machine as unrational as it is fascinating, where mechanical performance becomes an art in itself.

Exterior, interior: muscular luxury with Brabus style

The exterior styling leaves no room for doubt. The Rocket 900 adopts a complete body kit: specific grille, redesigned shields, ventilated hood, rear diffuser, side skirts…all in carbon fiber, visible or varnished. The LED lighting is reworked, the Brabus logos backlit, and every detail exudes raw power.

The rims 24-inch Z Monoblock are tailor-made for the model, and mounted on tires with a very high performance index. Even the exhaust system has been reworked with a double active side outlet, capable of modulating the sound between discretion and absolute roar.

Inside, the luxury is just as demonstrative. Quilted leather upholstery, personalized stitching, carbon or aluminum inserts, specific control palettes, numbered badges… The cockpit becomes a powerful lounge, with an impeccable finish. Each example can be tailor-made, from the color of the seats to the choice of materials.

More than €570,000, 25 copies: the price of excess

The Brabus 900 Rocket Edition is not aimed at traditional markets. Proposed from 571 000 € hors optionsit can easily exceed the 800 000 € depending on the finishes, interior configurations, colors or tailor-made equipment. Prices comparable to those of a Lamborghini Revuelto or a Ferrari Purosangue.

But where the latter play the card of agility and Italian prestige, the Rocket plays that of controlled brutality and assumed one-upmanship. The clientele? Enthusiasts, collectors, customers from the Middle East, North America or Southeast Asia. A public for whom the exception is a purchasing criterion in itself.

In France, the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition will remain a mirage reserved for a very few private garages. But its existence alone says a lot about the state of mind of a segment of the ultra-luxury automobile market, still totally impervious to the logic of energy transition or rationality.
