50 Cent Seizes Former Executive’s Home Over Embezzlement Debt

After a four-year legal battle, Curtis Jackson III, known as 50 Cent, can seize the Connecticut home of Mitchell Green, a former executive, to settle a $7 million debt.

Curtis Jackson III, the rapper known as 50 Cent, has secured the right to seize the Connecticut home of Mitchell Green, a former executive at his company Sire Spirits, as partial payment for a $7 million debt. This follows a federal bankruptcy judge’s decision to lift an automatic stay that had previously prevented the property transfer.

The legal process, initiated after Green confessed to embezzling from Sire Spirits through a kickback scheme involving wholesalers, took over four years.Branson Cognac and Chemin du Roi Champagne, both owned by Jackson, are managed through Sire Spirits.

Mitchell Green admitted in february 2020 to inflating prices and receiving kickbacks from wholesalers, which were disguised as “agency fees.”

Sire Spirits initially filed a request with the U.S. District Court, New York Southern, on Sept. 1, 2021, seeking confirmation of an arbitration agreement for nearly $3.5 million in damages.

Green’s embezzlement occurred from 2018 to 2020. The scheme was exposed when someone attempted to blackmail him regarding the $2.2 million in kickbacks. Green then disclosed his actions to Sire Spirits, leading to his termination and subsequent arbitration, which favored Sire Spirits. The final judgment in November 2022, including attorney fees and legal costs, amounted to approximately $6.3 million.

In march 2023, Green filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection. Despite the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, Sire spirits’ legal team obtained a judgment lien against Green’s home in Westport, Conn.

Green’s legal representatives consistently updated the court on the property’s status, emphasizing the automatic stay protecting his home due to the bankruptcy proceedings. However, Sire’s attorneys successfully argued for the stay’s removal, asserting that Green lacked equity in the home due to the substantial judgment against him, rendering the property unnecessary for liquidation.

The judge granted the request, lifting the stay.

An appraisal in late April valued the Connecticut home at $1 million. This amount will be credited against the outstanding judgment, which, with pre- and post-judgment interest, totals approximately $7 million.

While Jackson has recently promoted Branson Cognac on social media, he has not commented directly on the legal victory. He has, however, been publicly mocking Sean “Diddy” Combs, also known as “Puffy,” who is currently facing a federal sex trafficking and conspiracy trial.

Jackson posted on social media, referencing testimony from Combs’ former assistant Capricorn Clark, who stated that Combs made a comment about guns that she interpreted as a threat against Jackson. “Cut, CUT … Wait a minute PUFFY’s got a gun, I can’t believe this I don’t feel safe … LOL,” Jackson wrote.

“Oh my goodness itty bitty Diddy wants me Dead,” Jackson said in a follow-up post.”I have to lay low, I think I’m gonna hide out at the playoff game tonight LOL.”
