February is coming to an end. This means that spring will technically arrive very soon, and although there is no sign of it yet, we all know – it (spring) will come no matter what. Until very recently, after another visit to the cinema where an Icelandic film was shown, I concluded that although the seasons change during the course of the film, one thing has remained almost unchanged – the main character’s overcoat.
This fact causes a slight sadness, but at the same time there is something very familiar and close. How often in our latitudes, even in the official summer season, you have to look for something with long sleeves!
Jackets, coats, trench coats and bombers, in short, all kinds of outerwear are our reliable allies throughout the year, in every season and between seasons. Prepare or at least be aware of it ahead of time, which saves you peace of mind later.
What is it that fashion designers highlight this season? The function of outerwear is not only practical, protecting from the weather, but also visually aesthetic – they give the body a certain silhouette and direct the overall image in the direction of a certain style.
In 2026, fashion designers seem to have shifted the main emphasis to the shoulder line and shape, because the shoulder line has become one of the most expressive details. For coats, trench coats and jackets, the shoulder line is graphic and pronounced, even hypertrophied in places, and the more pronounced, the better. Accentuated shoulders can be combined with simple cut trousers and skirts, not always preference should be given to equally expressive clothing.
This season, fashion has confidently stepped into the freedom of self-expression, and the accented shoulder line will give the image strength and a note of drama, allowing those around to see the personality, or at least part of it, leaving room for free interpretation.

The bomber in itself is nothing new, and it must be said that bomber jackets have not lost their relevance for some time (or at all). It is true that this season they have become noticeably shorter, or as it is called in English cropped.

It can be easily combined with the usual everyday wardrobe, just make sure that the length of the clothes does not conflict with the length of the jacket, it is better to avoid completely sharp contrasts.

The utilitarian “green parka”, which is so well known to everyone, has returned to fashion news this year. It doesn’t have to be green, although that’s how it’s best remembered.
What makes this jacket so good? It is practical, will certainly last for several seasons, can be worn in spring, summer and autumn, and finally allows a range of easy and simple combinations with things already in the wardrobe. This year, you can also choose it in another shade, not only the usual khaki color.
Jacket with a high collar
Preferably made of leather if you want to be on the trend list, but of course any other material is also suitable. This type of jacket, thanks to the high collar, will protect against wind and cold, sometimes even replacing the need for a scarf.
If we mentioned the shoulder line in the introduction, then the collar shapes are the second most expressive detail that can be observed in the collections of the spring-summer season. A high collar is an expressive accent and at the same time a functional solution.
Low waist trench coat
The trench coat is a mid-season classic, and this year’s cut is characterized by a dropped waistline, which can be explained by the general growing popularity of this trend over the last few seasons.
A lowered waistline can be seen again in the fashion of both pants and skirts. Now it has also affected outerwear – excellent timeless value combined with a new perspective, which is often the basis of all new fashion trends. A good trench coat is always an investment – beautiful and practical clothing that will last forever (well, almost) and without exaggeration will suit everything.
Leather coat
Let’s start with the fact that a leather coat can just as well be a leather trench coat – it is simply thinner than a coat in the classical sense. In any case, the previous season already showed that the leather material is one of the most demanded in both clothing, accessories and outer jackets.
It is no wonder that fashion designers increasingly choose to experiment directly with the texture of leather in the spring-summer season collections, in the form of both artificial and natural leather, it depends on each individual’s ethics.
A coat or trench coat of smooth, patent leather, similar to a coat in one of the colors of the season, such as gray, brown, green, purple, looks elegant, noble and unusual. It will definitely be a special highlight of the wardrobe.
For everyday, it is better to choose a more neutral shade, so it is worth considering and buying two. The best choice will be a straight cut coat that reaches the ankles or at least the calves, something in between midi and maxi length.
Coats of different structures
For striped, fluffy or giant sequins – the main thing is that they are made of textures and materials that are pleasant to the touch. This year, designers are also creating voluminous and otherwise expressive coats of shapes and textures.
If you want to add something really special to your wardrobe, then it can be a giant fringed coat. For the brave, this coat can also be used on a daily basis.

It is difficult to call this trend a full-fledged part of the everyday wardrobe, mostly because it is not a practical jacket option, but an accessory that can be worn now and then to create a slightly different image.
A cape or cape-like structure is a good alternative to classic outerwear, jackets and coats, and can be played quite effectively, for example, during a visit to the theater, concert or opera. The cape is definitely one of the most unusual pieces of clothing this season, which will surely attract the attention of those around you, as well as broadcast that you are an unmistakable fashion connoisseur and follow the news.
