Since the Golden Globes are typically the first major televised ceremony of the calendar year (except for this year, when they were leapfrogged by the Critics Choice Awards), an acceptance speech is often viewed as an informal Oscar audition.

Meanwhile, the inaugural Best Podcast nominees are: Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, Good Hang With Amy Poehler, The Mel Robbins Podcast, SmartLessand Up First. The Golden Globes initially announced a shortlist of 25 eligible contenderswhich included many controversial political podcasts — none of them made the final cut.
