The 2025 NBA All-Star Game reserves will be unveiled during TNT’s pregame show on Thursday (February 6) at 6:30 ET. Following this announcement, fans can catch a doubleheader of Hawks vs. Cavaliers at 7 ET and Rockets vs. Lakers at 9:30 ET on the same night.
Each conference will select seven reserves: two guards, three frontcourt players, and two players from any position. NBA head coaches will determine these picks. These 14 reserves will join the 10 starters, named last week, to form the All-Star player pool.

2025 NBA All-Star Game Explained
New All-Star Game Format
For the first time, the NBA All-Star Game will feature a mini-tournament format. This innovative approach includes four teams competing in three games. The semifinals will pit two teams against each other, with the winners facing off in the championship game. The first team to reach or surpass 40 points in each game will be declared the victor.
Each team will consist of eight players and will be named by TNT NBA analysts. The 24 All-Star selections will be evenly divided among the three teams. Commentators and honorary general managers Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith will draft their respective teams live on TNT during the NBA All-Star Draft on Thursday, February 6.
The fourth team will be determined by the Castrol Rising Star contest’s championship team. This annual showcase features top first- and second-year NBA players and NBA G League standouts. The contest will take place on February 14 during NBA All-Star 2025. WNBA legend Candace Parker will serve as honorary general manager for the rising stars’ champion, known as Team Candace.
The selection process for starters includes fan votes (50%), current NBA players (25%), and a media panel (25%). Reserves, on the other hand, will be determined by NBA head coaches.
The mini-tournament rewards players and teams with a significant prize pool of $1.8 million. The championship-winning team will receive $125,000 per player, second place will earn $50,000 per player, and third and fourth-place teams will receive $25,000 per player.
