Wildcard Withdraws: Riga to Bucharest for PGL CS2

by Archynetys News Desk

This morning Urban Riga Open announced on X that Wildcard have withdrawn from the upcoming Urban Open Riga #4 LAN due to a “scheduling conflict with another event.” While the tournament organizer did not name the competing event, it is understood to be PGL Bucharest 2026, an event Wildcard received an invite to back on March 2nd when The Huns withdrew from the Romanian LAN.

Wildcard’s decision to commit to attending PGL Bucharest 2026 marks the end of a somewhat confusing saga that saw Wildcard sign up to Urban Open Riga #4 back in January, with their attendance being confirmed as late as March 27th.

The decision to sign up for Urban Open Riga #4 raised eyebrows as the team are not in contention for an IEM Cologne Major spot, and therefore should not need to prioritize smaller LANs in the lead-up to the invite deadline. With that fact in mind, PGL Bucharest has the potential to be a far more valuable VRS event in the long-term for Wildcard with its large prizepool and higher caliber of teams.

PGL Bucharest 2026 is set to start on April 3rd with Wildcard attending alongside Voca and NRG.
