Warning Signs: What to Look For

by Archynetys Health Desk

With nearly 16,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer diagnosed in 2023, the impact of this digestive cancer has been constantly increasing since the 1990s. So much so that it could become, by 2030, the second cause of cancer mortality, after that of lungs, in Europe and the United States, according to specialists.

In bad prognosis, cancer of this gland behind the stomach evolves silently and most often has no specific symptoms. Thus, the majority of tumors are discovered too late, sometimes at a metastatic stage. With a survival rate of around 10 % at 5 years, pancreatic cancer would only be operable in 15 % of cases, mainly due to the delay in diagnosis and the time limits.

The SOS Pancréas initiative, carried out by the specific cancer system of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (ONCO AURA) and the Regional Union of Health Professionals (URPS) Liberal doctors Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), intends to raise awareness among health professionals but also the general public of the early diagnosis of pancreas cancer.

She thus publishes a poster reading the 10 signs of pancreatic cancer which must alert. “Pancreas cancer is a silent disease often detected late. If you have been presenting for some time one or more of these warning symptoms, consult your doctor ”, We read at the bottom of the infographic.
