“We have made the difficult decision to close the Pointe-aux-Trembles and Côte-des-Neiges branches in Quebec,” confirmed Wednesday to Journal Walmart spokesperson Steeve Azoulay.

The Côte-des-Neiges and Pointe-aux-Trembles branches will close on June 19 and 26, respectively.

“Never easy decisions”

These closures will result in the loss of employment of approximately 130 workers in Côte-des-Neiges and more than 107 in Pointe-aux-Trembles.

“While these decisions are never easy, they are part of our ongoing efforts to ensure we meet the evolving needs of our customers and position our company for continued growth in Quebec,” adds Steeve Azoulay of Walmart.

Recently, Amazon has become the world’s largest company by turnover, overtaking Walmart after 13 years in the lead.

Two years ago, Walmart discussed the possibility of one day offering drone delivery here in 10 minutes, like in Dallas, for small, everyday items.

Even if this will not happen tomorrow in Quebec, Walmart has not ruled out soon offering delivery by drone in 10 minutes here for items ranging from baby wipes to birthday candles, as is the case in Dallas, Texas.
