The call Bahisgatethe great betting scandal that shakes Turkish football, continues to grow. A new police operation has left 28 arrested y 29 arrest warrantsamong them those of 14 footballersas reported by the country’s authorities.
Among those arrested is East Erdenformer leader of Galatasaraywho is among the 24 suspects already taken into custody. One of those involved was already in prison for another crime, while security forces continue to search for four other suspects who remain on the run.
Six of those arrested are accused of manipulating the result of the match between Kasimpasa y Samsunsporcorresponding to the Turkish Super League. The investigation also reaches relevant figures in national football, such as the vice president of the Eyüpspor, Fatih Kulaksizand the administrative director of Foreign Relations and National Teams of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), Buğra Cem İmamoğulları.
In a statement, the Istanbul Prosecutor General’s Office He detailed that several suspects maintained ties with a detainee in previous operations and presented “suspicious financial transactions” related to illegal bets. The Prosecutor’s Office points out that some of them would have bet on the Kasımpaşa–Samsunspor match on October 26, 2024, allegedly influencing its result. The bank accounts of Timur and others involved showed movements that could violate laws 6222, 5549 and 7258 on fraud, money laundering and illegal betting.
In total, 29 suspectsincluding the 14 footballers investigated, were the subject of searches, arrests and seizures in 11 provinceswith Istanbul as the epicenter of the operation.

The scandal has also affected the arbitration establishment. The legal advisor of the TFF has referred to nine former referees to the Disciplinary Board of Professional Football. Among them are two former senior referees – including the former Super League referee Ali Palabıyık—, five former assistant referees and one former provincial referee. The measure is adopted preventively under article 57 of the disciplinary regulations.
