Asia/China – The jubilee path of the Archdiocese of Taiyuan continues

Beijing (Agency Fides) – “Born of Hope, turned towards Hope”: this is the title of the meeting organized on the initiative of the Archdiocese of Taiyuan, in the Chinese province of Shanxi, as an important moment of the common path of the local Catholic community within the framework of the Jubilee of Hope, in communion with the whole Universal Church. The meeting took place on Monday, May 5 in the parish of the Immaculate Conception of Yangjiapu, one of the parishes of the diocese designated as jubilee churches. During the meeting, Mgr Paolo Meng Ningyou invited all participants to “participate with solicitude and generosity in the life of the Church, by supporting each other in Christ to build a culture of the meeting and share the charitable work and concrete testimony”, in the service of the ecclesial community and all of Chinese society.
The jubilee path of the Catholic community of Taiyuan had started on December 28, with the opening of the Holy Porte. During this solemn celebration, which took place in the diocesan cathedral, all the participants listened in silence to the reading of “SPES not confanded”, the text signed by Pope Francis for the proclamation of the Jubilee of Hope. Then all crossed the holy door in procession by singing the “prayer of the saints”. On this occasion, Mgr Meng had indicated that the time of the jubilee was a favorable moment to recognize that “our greatest hope is in God” and “to carry this light in every corner of the world”.
The other churches designated by the diocese as jubilee churches are: the parish of Bansishan (near the sanctuary of the same name), the parish of Notre-Dame des Pain, the cathedral (dedicated to the Immaculate Conception), the Saint-Antoine parish in Xiliulin, the parish of Christ-king in Guchengying, the Church of the Sacred Coeur de Honggou and The parish of the Immaculate Conception in Yangjiapu.
