Deadly Truck Accident Kills Four in Sukabumi, West Java
Sukabumi. In a harrowing turn of events, a large truck overturned on Saturday afternoon in Sukabumi, West Java and collided with a stationary car, resulting in four lives lost.
Incident Overview
A Mitsubishi Fuso truck, licensed in Bogor, was in motion on Pelabuhan Ratu Street when it suddenly went out of control. Witnesses reported that the truck lost balance and overturned, crashing into an Isuzu Panther sedan parked nearby.
The Isuzu Panther, with license plate number B 8644 HN, had 10 passengers inside when the accident occurred. Two individuals perished at the scene, while two others died later at the local hospital, Pelabuhan Ratu Municipal Hospital. Six passengers suffered injuries ranging from minor to severe.
Victims and Casualties
Tragically, the accident claimed the lives of four individuals. Panata, the driver of the Isuzu Panther, and three passengers: Wili Prayoga, Nyai Sumarnah, and Arsa, suffered fatal head injuries. Their tragic loss has left families and friends devastated.
Preliminary Investigation Reveals Possible Cause
Initial investigations, conducted by the Sukabumi Traffic Police, suggest that a faulty brake system in the Mitsubishi Fuso truck may have caused the accident. The malfunction could have led to the loss of control and subsequent overturning of the vehicle.
Second Inspector Yanuar Fajar from the Sukabumi Traffic Police shared, “The truck hit an Isuzu Panther with license plate B 8644 HN, which was parked on the roadside. The car had 10 passengers inside.”
Impact of the Accident
The collision between the large truck and the passenger car caused significant damage to both vehicles. Stones and debris from the overturned truck were scattered over the wreckage. Emergency responders reported that clearing these building materials was essential for rescue efforts and the safety of the victims.
According to an eyewitness, identified only as Keke, “The Isuzu Panther was parked near a grocery store when the truck lost control and crashed into it. The impact sent building stones from the truck flying into the car, which may have worsened the casualties.”
Recent Truck Accidents Highlight Need for Improved Traffic Safety Measures
This recent incident is not isolated; it follows another tragic truck accident in Bogor, West Java, just four days prior. In that incident, a water gallon truck crashed near a tollgate, causing a pileup that left eight people dead.
Investigations into both accidents suggest that faulty brake systems were likely contributors. These tragic events highlight the critical need for regular vehicle maintenance and stricter enforcement of road safety regulations.
